Scholastic Writing Future Contest Preparation Summer Camp – (Grades 4–6)

Instructor: Eden

Grades 4-6

Class time: 9:30 AM-12 PM 

 Flexible registration: sign up for one or more weeks! Each week features unique books.


In this camp, students in grades 4–6 will explore reading and writing in a fun and creative way! They will read engaging books, talk about stories, and try out many types of writing.


Schedule

 Book Fun & Academic Writing

• Discuss the assigned book: story, characters, themes, and writing style

• Participate in fun group and individual activities to practice writing clearly and thoughtfully


Break – Short Rest and Refresh


Creative Writing

• Explore different creative writing forms: short stories, poetry, and personal essays

• Learn to use vivid language, experiment with different sentence styles, and edit your own writing

• By the end of the camp, each student will have completed at least two pieces in each type of writing

Scholastic Writing Contest Preparation Summer Camp – (Grades 7–12)

Instructor: Eden

Grades 7-12

Class time: 1 PM-3:30 PM 

 Flexible registration: sign up for one or more weeks! Each week covers different topic, with similar content offered in Sessions A and B.


In this camp, students will prepare for the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards by exploring a different type of writing each week. Students will learn how to develop ideas, write with stronger voice and style, and create polished pieces that are ready to submit to the competition.


Schedule

Writing Workshop

• Study examples from a Scholastic-winning piece or mentor text

• Learn the features of the week’s writing genre

• Discuss ideas, structure, theme, and effective language

• Brainstorm and plan an original piece


Break – Short Rest and Refresh


Drafting & Revision

• Write the first draft during class

• Receive step-by-step guidance and individual feedback

• Revise for stronger details, organization, and word choice

• Edit grammar, sentence variety, and clarity

• Practice peer-review and workshop techniques

Week 3: 6/22–6/26:Analysis Essay

Week 4: 6/29–7/3:Personal Essay & Memoir

Week 1: 7/13–7/17:Critical Essay

Week 2: 7/20–7/24:Analysis Essay

Week 3: 7/27–7/31:Personal Essay & Memoir

Week 4: 8/3–8/7:Fiction(Short Story, Flash Fiction)

Geometry Bootcamp

Get ready to master Geometry! 📐 This 2-week intensive bootcamp covers the entire curriculum to help students boost their confidence and excel.


Instructor: Clements High School

Geometry Advance and Alegerbra2 Advance Math teacher 

Grade: 7-9

Prerequisite: Students need to finish Algebra 1 KAP or similar level
